PBS launched a wonderful new series this evening entitled Faces of America which examines the family history of 12 notable figures in contemporary America. The figures profiled are diverse and include Dr. Mehmet Oz, Meryl Street, Kristi Yamaguchi, Malcolm Gladwell Stephen Colbert and Yo-Yo Ma. I was pleased to see Mike Nichols on the list. As of May 29, 2009, approximately 45,800 H-1B cap-subject petitions had been received by USCIS and counted towards the H-1B cap. Approximately 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap exemption had been filed. USCIS will continue to accept both cap-subject petitions and advanced degree petitions until a sufficient number of H-1B petitions have been received to reach the statutory limits.

Hi,
I heard that if the filing of the 140 /labor /485 (any of them) have the filing date < 1 year at the end of the 6 year of h1b then I can not extend my H1B for the 7th year.
Questin: Is this correct?
Details:
Filled labor in june 2007.
Filled 140 /485 in aug 2007
6th year H1B completed in feb 2008.
Question: Am I eligible for the 7th year h1b extension?
If yes then for how many years of extenstion I get?
If not then please suggest what to do.
Note : I have not changed my employer since last 3 years.

Robert Creamer has an interesting analysis of how the ruling in Arizona could affect the Democrats' prospects in November. Many pundits are assuming that Republicans benefit. But Creamer makes a point I've said here many times. The only voters who switch their votes on the immigration issue are Hispanics. Anti-immigrants NEVER vote for the Democrats anyway. They almost always have a host of issues that they care about and in most cases the GOP is the better fit for those voters. So Democrats who try and pander to the Tea Party types are wasting their time.

You can initiate the process for both of you individually. Means u can apply Labor, I-140 individually. After that while applying I-485 its advaisable to move with the lawyer suggestion. So till I-140 you both can apply individually.

If your EAD is based on your husband's I-485 app I don't see any reason as to why that should affect your gc process if you move jobs.

Illegal non-immigrants did the rally to local USCIS offices. It would be good if we pick one day in 2nd week of July and have a rally to local USCIS offices. This will immediately catch the media attention.
