Here is my point. I spend several hours 3-4 hours at least every day looking through the forum posts hoping to find ways i can contribute to efforts. There are several ideas that are generated in the forum. But cannot find out who is leading it. All i am saying is if we can have a listing of initiatives with some names associated. So i can contribute to the ones that i can support. I am not sure if i am asking for too much here. I am not a IT guy. I do not know what it takes to post it in the front page.

Last week I went to Trenton with H1 extension receipt (original), letter from employer, but in vain. They need approved docs. Luckily this week I got the H1 extended and today I carried the original approved H1 I-797A and got the DL extended. I got only 2 years H1/DL extension after 6 year completion with I-140 approved and 485 in progress. Fyi
Why 2 years and not 3 years when USCIS regulations allow for 3 year extension if I 140 is approved and PD is not current? Did you specifically request 2 years?

My application was finally approved yesterday after almost 7 years in queue. Here is the sequence of events right before the approval.
RFE email on 02/13/09
2nd Biometrics Notice received on 02/17/09
Lawyer receives RFE for EVL, EAD cards and Marriage Certificate on 02/24/09
Completed Code 3 Biometrics on 02/26/09
Soft LUD immediately after Biometrics on 02/26/09
USCIS receives RFE reply on 02/27/09, Hard LUD and email on the same day
Another soft LUD on 03/02/09
CPO email on 03/10/09
Welcome email on 03/10/09

For all those people who are gun shy, let me assure you, it does not harm anybody. On the contrary it is helpful to all of us. Please consider pulling the trigger. The fund drive that is happening today is not the last drive; as long as we are active, their will always be fund drives. Maybe you are thinking of contributing after seeing the effects/results of Sept 18th. In that case, I urge you to contribute now to get the maximum bang for your buck. Think about the Macy�s firework in New York. I guess the intention of DOS was to enable Consular posts to approve as many EB2 cases as possible inorder to minimize VISA wastage. And also continue to enable USCIS to pick the low hanging fruits.
Otherwise, I dont think USCIS has cleared all pending cases with PD earlier than April 2004.
Yes, EB2 definitely deserves this moment and at the same time EB3 I does not deserve this 'coma' stage in their PD movement.

The project and the CMs speech indictaed that Hydereabad will be a major city in 3-4 decades not just in India but the entire world. Its upto you, how you want to interpret that message from CM.
In the short term (few months probably), prices may catch up because of the hype that this is generating.
I am not in a position to give any suggestion on land price movements in India and especially Hyderabad is highly volatile.
If i were you, i would definitely wait untill the elections.

You are correct, it took around 10 months. From prevailing wage to labor approval. 2 months I mean filing actual labor application to approval.

Are you sure it was Atlanta and not Chicago?. Your timeline suggests it was applied in Chicago.

More than 4 years ago when I started the process I really was looking forward to getting a GC and eventually citizenship. But a lot has changed in the last 4 years. GC process has become much harder (after 4 years I am yet to file for 140 and 485). At the same time the economy back home is booming. So the financial incentive to go thru the long process is really going down by the day.
More than the financial factor, I have gradually started realizing that no matter how many friends I make here its never the same as having a large family network that provides for social stability for each family. Also, I have started observing aging indian couples in US who came in 60's and 70's. They look pretty lonely and sad. I guess the question I am asking myself today is, is finanical success today worth the social loss I will face once I retire?
PS: Does anyone know how to turn a thread into a poll?
When my labor approval came, I was very happy and even bought a house. But then retrogression happened. Now I am really tired of it, besides I only can watch my nephews nieces growing through webcam only. My brother sisters are getting older, and I feel I am drifting away from them because I hardly get much time to spend with them even when I go to India. So GC or no GC, I am going back.
Now I am here for 2 reasons, my wife is studying, I am stuck with a house. My wife's studies are almost over. So as soon as I can break even on my house, I will go back. Period.
My wife couldn't get an internship this year due to not having GC. She has converted to F1 after waiting for a long time, and hopefully this year will get an H1. So GC has no real value for me now. Only value GC has for me is that I can live more independently switch employers, experiment with startup ideas etc. while I am here.

Well even if the amendment would have passed the chances that Bush would not veto it are very less since it had to do with troop withdrawal.
