Guys,
Wanted to started this thread to get reviews on different law firms
I can understand the quality and committment of lawyers can make a huge difference especially in this unprecendented situation where all EB categories are made current now and now there is a rumour that it would be retrogressed back probably sometime next week with a new visa bulletin.
A lot of lawyers who are really committed and sincere to their client's clause: Getting them Green Card, are working overnight and over the weekend also so that their client can file I-485 ASAP and on the other hand few law firms are acting as slackers and not even responding to their client's emails.
Anyway, I am interested in knowing everyone's experience ( good or bad ) with law-firms and their recommendation.
My Own Case:-> I work for a multibillion dollar telecom company and joined this company almost 15 mos ago with a promise that they would start my GC immediately. Till Now, they have not yet file my labor. Their lawfirm is Larrabee http://www.larrabee.com/ in sanDiego. I don't have much experience with them as my application is still in my company's internal queue but based on the basis of my little experience, I would certainly not recommend them
Thanks
DD

If you have a good experience with your lawyer and are recommending the law firm, pls also try to talk to your lawyer about IV. Ask the law firm if they want to contribute/ or even publicize IV to their clients. If they agree to do it, please post here. If they refuse, pls post here.
So when you write about how good your lawyer is, pls also mention if the lawyer supports IV and the help that has been extended to IV. If they have posted IV information/banner ad on their website, post the website URL here.
This will help maintain a list of lawyers who are recommended by members and at the same time, help IV.

Pappu,
I have helped in some other initiatives, but not donated money primarily because I was disgusted with some folks calling non-donors as free loaders. Anyway, since it is needed for our cause and our voice at this moment, I have donated $50. First time ever! Do keep up the good work that you guys always excelled at!
Thank you very much av2004 and axp817

Does an MBA from a foriegn University Qualify for an exemption of CAP of EB2 Visas?
I was thinking one has to MS in a US university to qualify.
Thanks for further clarifying.

In 2001 when I travelled to India, I paid 1200 to fly NWA. I paid 1000$ in 2008 on Asiana. Very good service. Although airline costs have increased, price of tickets havent increased proportionally.
Agree with the poster, treat airlines like a CAB. If you get good service, you are lucky.

I got reply from NJ senator
Dear Mr. xxxxx:
Thank you for contacting me to express your support for the Real Enforcement with Practical Alternatives for Immigration Reform (REPAIR) proposal. Your opinion is very important to me, and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you about this important issue.
The REPAIR proposal seeks to reform our immigration system by strengthening border security and interior enforcement, and requiring all employees to use biometric Social Security cards to gain employment. In addition, the proposal looks to implement a fair path to legalization for those already here and it includes proposals to enhance family reunification.
I believe we can create reform in a safe, orderly, and legal process that preserves the promise of America for all. It can create a pathway towards citizenship, make the process for receiving green cards more efficient, and create employment systems that are both business and family friendly.
America has a proud tradition as a nation of immigrants, but our immigration system is unarguably broken. We must enact practical, smart, and substantial immigration reform that reflects current economic and social realities, respects the core values of family unity and fundamental fairness, and upholds our tradition as a nation of immigrants. I believe substantial immigration reform is possible this year.
I have been persistently working with my colleagues to create and pass legislation that would enhance border security, while also providing a legitimate way for the estimated 12 million undocumented workers to come out of the shadows and earn United States citizenship. These undocumented workers should pass a series of strict and critical benchmarks, such as paying fines, learning English, and waiting at the back of the citizenship line behind those who have pursued legal means of attaining citizenship.
Comprehensive immigration reform is indeed an attainable goal and I believe that the REPAIR proposal provides a foundation on which we can build upon. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of further assistance. I invite you to visit my website (Robert Menendez - US Senator for New Jersey: Home (http://menendez.senate.gov)) to learn more about how I am standing up for New Jersey families in the United States Senate.

I think the right way is for it to move laterally. If the govt wants 40,000 EB-1's it should get that number or atleast close to it. No point in some one in EB-1waiting for their GC when it filters down to a lower category. Also no point talking about why everything has to be equal. It is not, thats why they have set EB1,EB2 and EB3.Each requires a different skill set. People would not have raised this issue if this was an EB1-EB2 issue. Only because it is a EB2-EB3 issue there is so much outcry. If they have laterally used EB-1 if there was high demand in EB-1 no body would have raised the issue as they know what skills EB-1 needs. Now that it moved laterally in EB-2 some EB-3's who think they are as qualified as EB-2's is creating all this issue. Again you should have applied in EB2 than EB3 instead of raising questions on why EB2 moved forward.
Also its not like it is current or anything. EB-3 ROW is still better than EB2 India/China and for Christ's sake EB2 India was unavailable last 2 months......

I would recommend shusterman.com -- one of their lawyers Ms Najfabadi is extremely efficient, fast. Overall this lawfirm is very influential (with uscis, dos, senate, etc) and will help you out if you get stuck somewhere in the process and will get u out of trouble by hook or crook (upto the extent the law permits).
I would strongly recommend you to talk to the attorney I mentioned.

I am really concerned. Employers will lobby for increase in H1-B.
Well, at least most of them. If it comes to either H1-B or GC, they will obviously opt for H1-B increase.
So, if in the last minute, only H1-B is increased and not GC (Anything can happen behind closed doors negotiations) we will have more H1-B with the GC dream and suffering like us.
I think our Web fax should categorically state that we support Only GC related provisions in the skill bill. Else, at least, I plan not to sign the petition.
We don’t want to be supporting a cause outside of ours that will eventually indirectly
affect us. It will also affect many starry eyed new H1-Bs chasing their ever elusive GC dream. Haven’t we all had enough.
Does IV has any role in this step?
It would be difficult in the current situation to have a resolution of EB retrogression issue without putting it along with either H1visa (lobbied by industries) or CIR-like (lobbied by pro immigrationists and agreeable to majority of senators). I think this is as good as it could get. The other alternative would be to add clauses or amendments to existing 'guiding laws' of immigration by Congress which is a far cry. Looking at the language and treatment in past 4 or 5 versions of immigration bills since last fall, I have seen that H1 always get clubbed together with EB visa numbers and so it would help to wait and see how this bill evolves thru the legislative processes. Can this bill come under the lobbying prowess of IV to make sure EB specific clauses are not diluted?
BTW, what happens to those holding foreign PhDs or equivalent degree/training in specialized areas (apologies if this question had been answered before)?

Yes, that is an issue. You will need to get an affidavit. The affidavit can be faxed or scan+emailed over to you.

needhelp...maybe instead of country of chargeability we should ask for grouping by country of birth; this is an actual field required in the I-485 form.
You are right about priority date. It is not a field available in the 485 form. in the 485 form we reference the approved I-140, which is the only place where your see the "Priority Date" field.

the funnies thing is that NSC update for Nov 20 is just found on Immigration.com and no where else .....SO whats the reliability of that document ?
If my attorney is to be believed, USCIS will clarify on Wednesday regarding whether/how to file without receipt notice.
BTW turns out I'm with Nebraska SC too. I had just assumed I would be in TX given that I live in TX! :D
